After surviving an earthquake in his home country in 2010, Haitian entrepreneur Dieuveny “DJ” Jean Louis launched Toast Vodka in the spirit of celebrating the good and simple moments of everyday life. “Experiencing a natural disaster made me realize how valuable life really is,” says Louis. “I always say that every day above ground is a good day to toast.” The creator of the world’s first ultra-premium, unflavored vodka made with coconut water now owns one of the few Black-owned distilleries, Toast Distillers, Inc., which can ship vodka right to your doorstep. The company’s profile includes a full range of spirits, including vodka, rum, gin, tequila, and whiskey. Toast Distillers, Inc. has unveiled its new Toast H2O alkaline purified water and plans to launch a line of hard seltzers. The Miami-Dade-based conglomerate also stepped up during the pandemic to create EZ Hand Sanitizers and supports organizations locally, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade and the University of Miami Athletics Department.
