3 March Miami Notables

Dear Evan Hansen at the Broward Center, GasMob at the Faena, and the fifteenth annual Deering Seafood Festival are the talks of the town this March

Win and Show

The much-acclaimed Dear Evan Hansen makes its way to the Broward Center.

The winner of six 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy, Tony and Academy award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal). Now it’s coming to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts March 26-April 7. Declared “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history” by the Washington Post’s Peter Marks, Dear Evan Hansen opened at the Music Box Theatre to rave reviews on December 4, 2016, where it’s broken all box office records and struck a chord with critics and audiences alike. It’s a Gas

At the fancy Faena House, you can gas up without going out.

Faena House Miami Beach has joined the GasMob network to provide on-site refueling services to the building’s elite roster of residents. Dubbed the “Billionaire Beach Bunker,” GasMob is a natural extension of the property’s suite of luxury amenities and hallmark bespoke services. Starting this past January, through GasMob’s innovative mobile app, owners of the 44 exclusive residences and guests of the Faena Hotel were able to bypass the gas station and schedule on-site refueling with no membership or delivery fees. Customers simply select the time that is most convenient for them and notate their parking spot within the property’s private underground garage. Upon completion, the customer is notified via text and receives a detailed receipt confirming the transaction. Benefitting from industry relationships, prices are highly competitive and in most cases less than the local average cost per gallon. Filling up twice a week, most commuters spend more than 26 hours each year at the pump. GasMob gives that valuable time back while also removing the risk of injury and accident. In South Florida, they have also teamed up with First Service Residential, CFH Group, and Crocker Partner’s Boca Raton Innovation Campus, the former IBM campus and birthplace of innovation with the personal computer.

For All to Sea

Always a favorite of fish fans, The Deering Seafood Festival returns to Miami.

Calling all seafood lovers: The 15th Annual Deering Seafood Festival is back. One of South Florida’s most anticipated events, this shindig attracts more than 8,000 people to the grounds of the historic 450-acre Deering Estate for a non-stop celebration of nature’s bounty. Virgin Islands stilt walkers and Bahamian Junkanoo musicians weave through the crowd as cooking demonstrations are presented by Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay under the big-top tent over the estate’s historic courtyard; following each, all attendees receive a copy of the recipe, a sample of the food prepared and the opportunity to engage in a Q&A with each chef. Prior to the festival, students from Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts compete for a coveted spot as a Guest Chef, presenting his or her award-winning recipe alongside the celebrated chefs. The festival takes place March 31 at the Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72nd Ave., Palmetto Bay. For tickets and more information, visit deeringseafoodfestival.org or call 305.235.1668, ext. 263.
