Samantha Warren and Vianca Arias know a thing or two about throwing the perfect summer party. The duo forms Thirsty Bartenders, the YouTube platform from which they teach fans how to make cocktails to satisfy every palate, recommend products that can turn an amateur bar cart into a mixology station, and offer top-notch entertaining tips– even when most of the entertaining is happening over Zoom.

Like most people, Warren and Arias will find themselves pivoting to make the most of a summer spent indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic. Because summer vacation will likely be put on pause, the brilliant minds behind the Thirsty Bartenders created a lineup of summer cocktails inspired by their favorite vacation spots across the globe.

Greek Melon Goddess

  • 1 cup frozen cubbed honeydew
  • 1 oz. Ouzo
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • Mint garnish
  • Optional: pink bougainvillea flower

Thirsty Bartenders Tip: The essentials for every mixologist include a cocktail shaker set (shaker tins, strainers, a jigger, and a bar spoon), your favorite citrus (Warren and Arias choose limes 90 percent of the time), a sweetener (think simple syrup, honey, or agave), and your favorite liquor.

Lava Flow

  • For banana coconut cream:
    • 1 cup ice
    • 1 ripe banana
    • 2 oz. coconut cream
  • For strawberry rum puree:
    • 1 oz. light rum
    • 1 oz. coconut run
    • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • Pineapple triangle and strawberry slice to garnish

Passionfruit Caipirinha

  • Seeds from 1/4 passionfruit
  • 2 oz. Cachaça
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice
  • Lime wheel garnish

Thirsty Bartenders Tip: When hosting larger groups, making big batches of mojitos or margaritas is guaranteed to please a crowd. These cocktails allow mixologists of all levels to play around with flavors and varieties to find the perfect blend. Warren and Arias recommend investing in a large pitcher or barrel drink dispenser to house your customized concoctions.

Peachy Moroccan Mint Tea

  • 4 oz. green mint tea
  • 1.5 oz. Crown Peach
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 2 lemon wheels and mint sprig garnish

Thai Mule Bucket

  • 1 handful of Thai basil
  • 6 lemon wedges
  • 24 oz. ginger beer
  • 200 mL of Bacardi Gold

Thirsty Bartenders Tip: Warren and Arias’ go-to liquor and mixer are tequila and Fever-Tree ginger beer. The possibilities are endless and oh so refreshing.
