Experience the Miami Design District (MDD) like never before as part of the sixth annual Miami Design District Commission. Each winter, MDD commissions a creative studio to reimagine the ultra-chic neighborhood’s environment through public installations that interact with the native trees, architecture, and outdoor sculptures. This year, the Chilean design collective Great Things to People (gt2P) was selected to deliver immersive works that focus on the theme of energy.

Entitled “Conscious Actions,” gt2P’s work combines industrial production and traditional craftsmanship in two fun and interactive playground-like installations. Named Umbrella Birds and Swing Gravity Shadows, these devices activate through natural forces that generate effects like transformative surfaces, kinetic motion, and solar-powered lighting.

The experiences tap into childhood fun to inspire reflection on the energy we consume and contribute back to the world while also raising awareness for a more resilient, healthy, and equitable city.
