It’s the new year, and this season, there’s something for everyone to slip into to feel their best. Just ask Danielle Merollo, who was recently appointed the director of personal shopping for the Miami Design District’s exclusive shopping concierge service, Styled by MDD. In this new role, she’s presenting fashion connoisseurs with a collection of cosmopolitan fashion finds from the neighborhood. Merollo got her start at Manhattan’s Saks Fifth Avenue locale and later transitioned to Americana Manhasset as the center’s sole personal shopper. With more than 30 years of experience, she brings not only a keen eye and expertise to the neighborhood, but a list of ever-growing, long-lasting relationships with celebrity clientele. Here, she breaks down what she expects to see in 2022 and beyond.

Show Some Skin

“Showing skin and cutouts are here to stay,” says Merollo, noting how many designers have opted for shorter tops and cutouts. “The classic blazer has gotten an upgrade. An Alexander McQueen white blazer shows just enough skin.”

Athleisure 2.0

Athleisure is no longer just for the gym or comfy nights. “High-end brands are not giving up on this business yet,” Merollo says. Of note are Kim Kardashian West’s line of shapewear and activewear (Skims) and her recent partnership with Fendi to produce a curated capsule of activewear, leggings, yoga shorts, and T-shirt dresses. “Hermès is coming out with a line of activewear, and Dior has taken to the slopes with their beautiful take on skiwear,” adds the fashion connoisseur.

Louis Vuitton Nuit de FeuFeeling Beautiful

The next big fashion trend Merollo stands by is “feeling beautiful.” She adds: “When we think of fashion, we rarely think of skin care, makeup, or fragrances. Most of the top designers have been jumping into this business with two feet. Tom Ford makes one of the best foundations out there. Hermès lipsticks stay on forever. Louis Vuitton has beautiful fragrances. Beauty is the new fashion trend; it goes hand in hand.”
