In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Miami Design District will host the fifth annual Fashion Strikes Cancer benefit to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Founded and led by fashion visionary, stylist, and breast cancer survivor, Angeles Almuna, Fashion Strikes Cancer was created to commemorate her battle with cancer and to give hope to all those who are suffering, have suffered, or have lost a loved one to cancer.

This year, the Miami Design District will host five events throughout October in honor of BCRF. The neighborhood kicked off the month-long series of events on October 1 with a sunset yoga class in Palm Court led by Ahana Yoga founder, Dawn Feinberg, and Almuna. Guests enjoyed a special performance by Jahzel Dotel as they gathered for a night of yoga and philanthropy, with ticket proceeds benefiting the BCRF.

The neighborhood’s iconic Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome was illuminated in pink and will continue to be illuminated each night of October. In addition, the neighborhood will turn its Styling Suite pink, featuring pink items donated by various retailers throughout the Miami Design District.

On Sunday, October 18, the Miami Design District and Rapha Racing will host an MDD x Rapha Bike Ride at 6:30 a.m. in Jungle Plaza. All riders will receive a satin pink ribbon and can select to ride south toward Coconut Grove or north toward Dania Beach. Tickets cost $10 and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the BCRF. Gift packages from Rapha, Miami Design District totes and masks, and refreshing beers from Veza Sur Bar await participants after the ride.

Miami Design District and Rapha will join forces again on Saturday, October 24, to host the MDD x Rapha x Irun 5K Run/ Walk. The 5K will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in Jungle Plaza. Tickets cost $5 and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the BCRF. Participants will go home with gift packages and prizes from Rapha.

Miami Design District will close out Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Thursday, October 29, at 7 p.m. with the 5th Annual Fashion Strikes Cancer Benefit in Palm Court.
