Lush Landscaping at Continuum on South Beach

After two decades, Continuum on South Beach will unveil a modern aesthetic that should encourage homeowners to head outside and indulge IN the lush tropical lifestyle.

When ArquitectonicaGEO designs and redevelops the exterior of Continuum on South Beach, the world-famous architectural firm will deliver new levels of luxury to condominium owners. Continuum’s management team is excited about the future of the resort-style oceanfront residences located on the southern-most tip of Miami Beach. Since the development incorporates five-star standards into every home, the team members want the exterior to offer the same level of luxury.

“Our brand is strong, and we are known for high standards in everything we do,” says Rishi R. Idnani, managing director of Continuum on South Beach. “We are planning a large beautification project that will also include roadways. We have a gorgeous location, the best views in town, and now we want to add a richer landscape with a pedestrian-friendly, neighborly feel and park design.”

The $8 million project, called “Infinite Wellbeing,” begins now and should take 15 to 18 months to complete. The beautification will include about 100,000 square feet. This new brand identity for the property and its grounds also brings a huge transformation to the heart of the South of Fifth neighborhood. To reinforce and complement the new visual identity, the Continuum on South Beach brand will also receive a permanent modification where the property and corporate entity will be simply known as “Continuum.”

ArquitectoniaGEO will be implementing an overall exterior transformation, starting from the driveway into the Continuum and leading from the main road, as well as in and around the lower rotunda, entranceway, gatehouse area and upper rotunda where cars and pedestrians enter both towers. Some of the most exciting additions will redefine the main entrance and enrich the landscape. The landscape designers, led by the Arquitectonica pros, will be adding a large embellishment of color throughout each area with a hand-picked selection of matching flowers, shrubs, foliage and vegetation. Here residents can enjoy the finest pieces of color in all of nature without leaving the neighborhood. Tree species being selected include the Autograph Tree, Pigeon Plum, Green Buttonwood and Gumbo Limbo. “We intend to relocate a good number of healthy trees on site, like the date palms, Florida Hatch Palms and Brazilian beauty leaf,” says Idnani. “The existing water fountain fixture in the lower rotunda will be replaced with a Specimen Tree to establish a more interesting and statuesque aesthetic during the arrival experience.”

But the most significant change will be within the upper rotunda, where a large older fountain is currently situated. This will be replaced with a smaller, more tranquil water fixture together with green foliage and plants to encourage pedestrians to sit around, chill, chat, and enjoy the beauty of nature in the pristine mornings and late afternoon light. Multiple pathways will also be formed through the center of the rotunda, creating a walkway that will not interfere with vehicles or valet services. “The end goal of this transformation is also functionality, performance and to establish long-term maintenance of the property as a whole,” says Michelle Cintron, Vice President of ArquitectonicaGEO. “Part of the project will naturally result in beautifying the surrounding neighborhood to make it more pedestrian friendly. This will potentially activate the nearby retail area to a larger extent.”

The Continuum was developed by New York real estate mogul Ian Bruce Eichner. The South Tower (42 stories) opened in 2000; the North Tower (37 stories), in 2007. With 26 different residential floor plans and five different townhouse floor plans offered, amenities include two lagoon pools, private patio restaurant, sporting club and spa with gym and lap pool, tennis pavilion with three clay courts, indoor parking garage with 24-hour gated security, multiple meeting rooms, outdoor event space, and a full-time concierge.

This planned contemporary and aesthetic transformation in the heart of South of Fifth, is the first venture of its kind by the acclaimed market leader in nearly 20 years. Residents know it is vitally important to stay modern, focused and on top of changing market trends. “To commemorate our epic milestone of two decades as one of the nation’s leaders in luxury oceanfront residential living, we are thrilled to unveil a new chapter in out design and identity,” says Keith Marks, president of the Continuum Master Association. “ArquitectonicaGEO was chosen because it is a national leading architectural design firm. This will mark the first phase of refurbishment for the entire property over the next three to five years—resulting in a new look for our world-class amenities and style of contemporary, modern-day living.”

Indeed, the injury of time is being actively repaired into a masterpiece of modern beauty.
