The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) recently unveiled “Exclusive Tonsorial Services,” the first institutional solo exhibition by artist Kate Capshaw. On view to January 19, the exhibition centers on a tribute to Sergei Grant, a local barber who has deeply impacted the Miami-Dade community.
Capshaw’s exhibition marks a pivotal transition in the artist’s career, introducing her as an artist spotlighting community stewards through portraiture. Curated by PAMM director Franklin Sirmans, the show highlights both Grant’s personal journey and his broader community influence.
Before it closes on January 19, the exhibition will feature a live barbershop setup inside the museum on January 16. Visitors can receive free haircuts from Grant, transforming the museum space into a hub of community interaction and personal storytelling.
Thursdays at PAMM: The Barbershop
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Grant and his team transform the museum into a vibrant barber shop offering free haircuts. Celebrate the way barbering fosters community, camaraderie, and artistic expression. RSVP for the experience here. Haircuts are free with RSVP and space is limited.
