Miami, FL, USA – March 25, 2020: Military and medical personnel setting up to test for coronavirus in Miami Hard Rock Stadium parking lot.

Banyan Medical Systems, a next-generation healthcare services delivery and technology company, and Pivot Concierge Health, an integrative “wellcare” clinic, announced the opening of Aventura’s first drive-thru testing site for COVID-19 to expand the availability of testing in South Florida, reduce the burden on local area hospitals and staff, and help keep the community safe and healthy. The new site was created through a collaborative initiative involving Banyan Medical Systems, Pivot Concierge Health, and the City of Aventura.

The site in Aventura will begin operating on Monday, April 13, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Testing appointments are required and can be made now through an online screening questionnaire. The process determines the needs and risk factors of those requesting a test following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Eligible people will be given a first-come-first-serve appointment with priority time slots for first responders and seniors age 65 and older. All major insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, will be accepted.

“As we grapple collectively with this crisis, it’s more important than ever to stand together in helping our community stay healthy,” said Aventura Mayor Enid Weisman. “The City of Aventura is proud to be able to collaborate with community leaders to deliver a much needed COVID-19 testing site.”

In addition to real-time online screening and the drive-thru testing available at the outdoor site, the website will provide safe and convenient access to virtual care with medical professionals via smartphone, tablet, or camera-enabled computer to those who need it. Telemedicine appointments are open to all South Florida residents prior to needing a test as well as afterward to manage healthcare needs, virtually from the home safely.

“We created the first drive-thru site in Aventura to provide quick, safe basic medical care, screening, and testing for the community during this time of crisis,” said Michel Koopman, a 20-year resident of Aventura and the Executive Vice President of Banyan Medical Systems. “With our technology and digital hospital, in partnership with the City of Aventura, we can provide direct patient care for anyone who needs it and do it safely.”

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Banyan Medical Systems also recently launched its Telehealth Aid Program for Hospitals. Through the philanthropic initiative, the company aims to donate upwards of $10 million in technology and services by providing over 1,000 virtual care-enabled patient isolation rooms across hospitals nationwide (at no cost for up to 90 days). The program is helping hospitals and healthcare workers reduce personal protective equipment usage, supplement staff with remote medical professionals, provide all inpatients with 24-hour virtual care, and keep the frontlines as safe as possible.
