Safa Maklad MD

Safa Maklad, MD, is an experienced physician specializing in familymedicine with additional board certifications by the American Board of Wound Management and the American Board of Obesity Medicine as well as advanced training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) through UHMS. With over a decade of experience in hyperbaric medicine, Dr. Maklad is passionate about integrating HBOT into comprehensive patient care, addressing a wide range of conditions beyond traditional applications.

Before moving to Florida, Dr. Maklad served as the medical director of a wound and hyperbaric center in upstate New York for seven years. Under her leadership, the center was designated a Center of Excellence by Healogics, reflecting her commitment to high-quality patient outcomes. She has been providing hyperbaric treatments since 2012 and recognizes its vast, often underutilized potential in modern medicine. At O2pure Hyperbaric Wellness Center, she now can offer both on-label and off-label HBOT indications, expanding access to this transformative therapy, known for its ability to enhance cellular repair and reduce inflammation.

Dr. Maklad specializes in using HBOT to support recovery from conditions such as long COVID, concussions, traumatic brain injuries, chronic wounds, and other inflammatory or neurological disorders. Her practice also offers advanced lab testing, IV nutrient therapy, and red-light therapy—treatments that complement HBOT to enhance healing and optimize health. She takes a functional medicine approach, focusing on treating the whole patient rather than just symptoms.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Maklad has trained family medicine residents and served as a clinical assistant professor at SUNY Upstate.
