Back-to-School with Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade

In response to Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ announcement that school would remain virtual for the upcoming year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will offer a Back-to-School In-Person Virtual Learning Program. The program will kick off on Monday, August 31, and will include assignment help, mentoring, art, recess, and more.

The in-person program was conceived to ensure that local students have access to the resources and support necessary to navigate the new school year virtually. The Boys & Girls Clubs will welcome student members to complete their virtual schooling at the Kendall, Hank Kline, South Beach, and Northwest locations, while being supervised by youth development professionals. Registration costs $65 per month for the Kendall and Hank Kline clubs and $50 per month for the South Beach and Northwest clubs.

The program will be offered to students Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration began on Monday, August 10, and will continue on a first-come, first-served basis. To maintain social distancing and group size protocols, the program will host nine students per classroom.

In addition to the in-person virtual learning program, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will extend its Virtual Club, which provides youth members with engaging digital activities via Zoom. The virtual programming includes story time, science lessons, arts and crafts, physical fitness, yoga, homework assistance, mentoring, social-emotional learning, and more. Virtual activities will be offered Monday to Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. in 40-minute sessions. Once the back-to-school in-person virtual learning program fills up, participants will be referred to the Virtual Club.
