Aventura Arts & Cultural Center’s Season to Kick Off

The center's season begins with performances by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, the Miami International Piano Festival, and more in October

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center will kick-off a packed season with performances by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, the Miami International Piano Festival, and more in October.

On October 12 at 7:30 p.m., Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida and artistic director Vladimir Issaev will launch the season with a classical and neoclassical program that includes Una Danza Para Ti by Vicente Nebrada; Issaev’s Vuelo, performed to Anton Arensky’s “Nocturne”; Alberto Méndez’s contemporary ballet Eros’ Game, a pas de troisissetto set to the timeless music of George Frideric Handel and Joseph Haydn; and excerpts from the beloved classical ballet Paquita.

Next on the agenda, the City of Aventura and YI Love Jewish will partner to present “The Wheel: Songs from the Road” featuring the Zisl Slepovitch Klezmer Trio October 17 at 8 p.m. Musicologist and singer D. Zisl Slepovitch will present a collection of rare songs and instrumental pieces that he discovered in the archives in Eastern Europe with his mentor Dr. Nina Stepanskaya. On October 19, catch “Yiddish Tangos” featuring Aaron Kula, his Klezmer Company Jazz Orchestra, and Avi Hoffman. “Yiddish Tangos” fuses Yiddish melodies with tango rhythms, producing a unique and sensuous sound embracing two distinct cultures.

Miami International Piano Festival will round out the month’s offerings with Concerto Night, featuring three acclaimed pianists and conducted by Igor Gruppman, October 20 at 5 p.m. The program features Vyacheslav Gryasnov performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concerto No. 12 in A major, Florian Noack performing Felix Mendelssohn’s Concerto No. 2 in D minor, and Dmitry Ablogin performing Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Concerto No. 2 in A minor.
