The second edition of the Art Basel Online Viewing Rooms will be available to the public for a week of spectacular art viewing beginning on Friday, June 19, via the fair’s website and mobile app. The virtual galleries will supplement the physical art show and will feature works from 282 esteemed international galleries, spanning 35 countries and territories across the globe. The Online Viewing Rooms will be available for VIP card holders to preview on Wednesday, June 17, through opening day.

The Online Viewing Rooms will represent galleries from Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, with a stunning overview the world’s diverse art scenes. To pay homage to the structure of Art Basel’s physical fairs, the viewing rooms will be segmented into sectors with particular focuses. These sectors include Galleries (showcasing painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and more), Edition (showcasing prints and multiples), Feature (curated presentations of works by twentieth and twenty-first century artists), and Statements (emerging voices in the arts).

Art Basel’s virtual initiative will provide the opportunity for patrons, collectors, and the community, to remain connected across continents at a time when gathering in large groups and traveling are discouraged.

New to Art Basel: Lars Friedrich from Berlin; Emalin and Union Pacific from London; Bridget Donahue, Yancey Richardson Gallery, and Queer Thoughts from New York City; Loevenbruck from Paris; LambdaLambdaLambda from Prishtina; Hosfelt Gallery from San Francisco; and René Schmitt from Westoverledingen. A full list of the galleries being represented is available here.
