Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables is marking this month with endless programming options, bringing locals near and far to explore the outdoor oasis in all of its blooming glory. April 17-18, head over for the annual Spring Plant Sale to meet and mingle with other South Florida plant growers and vendors. Available for purchase are rare and exotic plant and flower varieties from Southeast Asia, tropical America, and the Caribbean.
Science will come alive for children with “Expedition Discovery,” a daily, fun-filled educational adventure mirroring botanist David Fairchild’s worldwide expedition. Budding explorers will hone their map-reading skills on three different missions throughout the 83-acre property, documenting their plant discoveries in red journals along the way.
Live musical performances will serenade visitors on Friday nights during the garden’s “Date Night” series, which promises entertainment such as dance lessons and cooking classes. And on Sunday mornings beginning at 8 a.m., spend quality time with your pooch when Dog Date Strolls and DOGA (yoga with your dog) take center stage, along with a Yappy Hour at Glasshouse Cafe featuring wine and light bites for you and water and dog-centric tapas for your furry friend.
