Blue Lagoon

Laguna Solé is more proof that in South Florida, going bigger is always better.

Laguna Solé, South Florida’s first swimmable Crystal Lagoon at Solé Mia, will comprise seven acres of vast clear sparkling Caribbean-blue water, roughly the size of 21 Olympic swimming pools or 17 blue whales (in other words, it’s huge!). The lagoon will be surrounded by three sandy beaches: North Beach, East Beach and North Miami’s very own “South Beach,” minus the tourists. The project brings the beach lifestyle inland, and marks the first time that residents of the neighboring The Shoreline will own a private piece of their own “ocean” where they can enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking or floating on luxury loungers. In addition to being stunning, Laguna Solé is also sustainable, utilizing 30 times less water than a typical 18-hole golf course. It’s only the second crystal lagoon in the U.S., with a total of 21 planned in the coming years in locations such as Tampa and Orlando, among others. Solé Mia, developed by Turnberry and LeFrak, is a $4 billion, 184-acre master-planned community being built in several phases and will ultimately contain more than 4,000 residential units and 1.5 million square feet of commercial space; for more information, visit solemia.com.

Spring Classic

A new production of Miss Saigon is the perfect way to kick off the spring show season.

You may think you’ve seen it already, but there’s a new production of the legendary musical Miss Saigon. From the creators of Les Misérables, this story of a young Vietnamese woman named Kim who is orphaned by war and forced to work in a bar run by a notorious character known as “the Engineer” never gets old. Working in the bar, Kim meets and falls in love with an American G.I. named Chris, but they are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. For three years, Kim goes on an epic journey of survival to find her way back to Chris, who has no idea he’s fathered a son. The show is a stunning spectacle and features a sensational cast of 42 performing the soaring score, including Broadway hits like “The Heat is On in Saigon,” “The Movie in My Mind,” “Last Night of the World” and “American Dream.
