3 May Notables Across South Florida

Tropic Ocean Airways, ICON Aircraft's A5, and Aventura Mall's new retailers are all the rage around South Florida this month

The Only Way to Fly

Once you do it, Tropic Ocean Airways will put you off commercial flights for life.

Founded by a veteran U.S. Navy TOPGUN fighter pilot, Tropic Ocean Airways is the South Florida-based luxury solution for elevated travel experiences, offering private charter flights, scheduled trips, dock-to-yacht and cargo services across the Bahamas and South Florida—with no pesky security lines and wait times. Charters are all professionally handled by a dedicated concierge, including assistance with booking hotels, connecting flights or excursions. Yachting services include dock-to-yacht guest and crew transports, replenishing and replacing food, beverages and supplies, and delivering critical repair parts and technicians within a matter of hours. The airlines cargo logistics service provides fast and reliable shipping, safely transporting fragile and high-value items. “I founded Tropic Ocean Airways in 2009 on the premise of creating a customer experience-driven company that flies seaplanes,” says Rob Ceravolo, CEO and founder. “We strive to provide the best possible experience for every guest.” And of course, safety is at the heart of Tropic Ocean Airways, and its measures, policies and procedures are based on the rigorous training Ceravolo received during his tenure as a Navy fighter pilot and TOPGUN instructor. All employees undergo extensive training and participate in weekly exercises—and the airline has been awarded the ARGUS Gold Rating for safety alongside its spotless FAA record. “As a veteran pilot and former instructor, flight best practices are ingrained,” says Ceravolo. “Leading an airline company around the core values of past training and military safety standards is natural and what guests deserve.” Tropic Ocean Airways has a team of over 100 with fleet headquarters in Florida at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami Seaplane Base (X44). Flying High

Luxury car lovers, take to the skies—the ICON A5 is now available at the Prestige Imports showroom.

ICON Aircraft has partnered with Brett David and Miami Beach’s Prestige Imports, meaning the ICON A5 will be available in the Prestige Imports 2.0 showroom as part of the Prestige Aviation division. The collaboration will introduce adventure flying and personal aviation to Prestige Import customers who until now might never have considered becoming pilots. The plane will be displayed in the dealership showroom alongside high-end exotic vehicles such as Paganis and Lamborghinis, with dedicated specialists ready to engage with clientele. “Our customers crave ways to enjoy life and unlock what was believed to be unattainable adventures,” says Prestige Imports CEO Brett David. “Since 1977, we’ve come to deeply understand the South Florida luxury lifestyle and the ICON A5 fits perfectly.” To inspire a new generation, ICON designed the A5 to reconnect people with the pure joy of flying. Much like the exotic cars on the Prestige Showroom floor, it’s crafted for performance, from its industry-leading safety features such as a full plane parachute to a cockpit that minimizes complexity. And the A5 requires only a sport pilot license to fly, which takes about half as long as a private pilot license to earn.
