10 Festive Events to Enjoy During Winter at MiChiMu

Miami Children’s Museum will set the scene for Winter at MiChiMu festivities all month long. Locals and visitors are invited to embrace the festive spirit with a lineup of exciting family-friendly activities and engaging holiday programming.

Tropical Winter Wonderland Sock Skating Rink

Guests can glide and twirl in their socks on the outdoor sock skating rink, pose for a wintery family photo with a tropical twist, and shop for the little ones on their list at the Kid Smart Gift Shop daily.

Art Week at MiChiMu

Now through December 8, families are invited to MiChiMu for a week of art-filled fun, where children can explore the world of contemporary art through activities, interactive exhibits, and workshops.

ArtBasel Kids

Taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center December 6-8, this offsite activation will invite children and families to partake in creative and educational activities throughout the weekend. Inspired by six renowned female artists, the theme for this year’s interactive program is Women of Wonder. Pre-registration is required.

Hanukkah with PJ Library

On December 9, celebrate Hanukkah early with PJ Library, a local organization serving Jewish families. Guests can enjoy a storytime, engage in a fun activity, and savor a holiday snack. Discover the excitement of the dreidel game and unleash creativity with a Hanukkah-themed craft.

Holidays Around the World

From December 10-29, children can discover some of the popular holidays celebrated in the United States, as well as those observed across the world. They’ll craft their own wrapping paper, make beeswax candles, and get creative in MiChiMu’s Art Studio by designing festive foliage.

Sensory-Friendly Saturday

On the second Saturday of each month (December 14), MiChiMu offers a free sensory-friendly event for children with disabilities and their families. Winter-themed sensory activities, theater performances by MiChiMu’s players, and exhibits—all within a setting with reduced noise, dimmed lighting, and limited attendance—await.

Representation Through the Artist Lens: Conversations & Workshop for Children

December 14-15, children will explore a featured artist’s work, how their background inspires them, and the cultural significance of their art form. This month’s featured artist is Autumn Kioti.

A Holly Jolly Holiday

Count down to Christmas and get in the holiday spirit December 21 and 22. Sing-along with MiChiMu’s carolers and create holiday cards and gift wrapping paper. Stop by MiChiMu’s Glass Lab to make personalized gifts for loved ones, enjoy an animated holiday story time, and visit with Santa.

Pura Vida Monthly Cooking Club

Join MiChiMu for a healthy kid-cooking session every month. Children will be making hummus and pita bread December 21 and 22.

Noon Year’s Eve

Ring in the New Year (a few hours early) with a countdown and MiChiMu’s biggest and best balloon drop yet surrounded by confetti December 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join MiChiMu’s Theater Troupe for fun during the Pre-Show and dress up for the occasion with MiChiMu’s accessory giveaways. After the balloon drop, stick around for fun activities to help you continue the celebrations.
