Around Miami

After what feels like eons of continuous construction, Aventura Mall’s new three-level, 315,000-square-foot expansion wing is shaping up on the east side of the property. The new space is designed to create an inviting exchange between the indoors and outdoors, and includes experiential, artistic elements such as a nearly 93-foot-tall sculpture by Belgian artist Carsten Höller that mall visitors will actually be able to slide down(!). Among other retailers, which will be announced over the coming months, the new wing will house a bi-level Topshop Topman store, marking the British brand’s first store in Miami, along with a 34,000-square-foot, two-level Zara store and a Pomellato boutique. And after all that waiting to see what was going to take the place of the defunct food court, it turns out they’ll have a landscaped piazza with restaurants and cafes such as CVI.CHE 105, Serafina, Pubbelly Sushi, Harry’s Pizzeria and Blue Bottle. And the new wing’s Treats Food Hall will feature more than a dozen spots to choose from. To top it all off—literally—at the top of the mall’s expansion will be a 7,000+-square-foot VIP Lounge, as well as a central lounge where guests can play pool and watch TV, relax, read, or have a drink and a snack out on the terrace. The expansion is scheduled to open later this year.
