What fitness and eating tips can you give to help me get through the holidays?

Because we know everyone is so busy cooking and spending time with family, all of these easy fitness tips can be done in the comfort of your own home.

  1. Take some time in the morning or after dinner to go for a nice, long walk. Walking is a great way to speed up digestion.
  2. Set a goal and keep it. This is always the hardest part about keeping the weight off during the holidays, but it is definitely the most important.
  3. Take 20 minutes out of your day for the ultimate and convenient full body workout—all you need are running shoes.

Details are below. This quick and easy workout can be tailored to anyone’s fitness level and is meant to be repeated 8-10 times:

  •  Circuit: Run for one minute
  • 20 body weight squats
  • 20 pushups
  • 20 situps

When it comes to eating:

  • Have an understanding of portion control.
  • Don’t sit down to a meal while you’re starving – this is a sure way to over eat.
  •  Be sure to always stay hydrated – it helps control hunger.
  • Stay away from alcohol before meals as it spikes your blood sugar and makes you even hungrier.
  • Focus on whole grain: plain oatmeal, plain sweet potatoes, etc.

And one very important tip to remember:

  •  You can’t out train a poor diet!
