East End Style

East End Brasserie Just opened in The Atlantic Resort & Spa on Fort Lauderdale beach—a lovely spot for dining—this French bistro occupies what was once Trina on the ground level of the hotel. Executive chef Steve Zobel’s offerings are unpretentiously good yet creative, from a wild mushroom omelet with Gruyere for breakfast to a midday menu of salads, seafood, baguette sandwiches, an artisanal cheese cart and a $22 prix fixe lunch of three courses, to eclectic dinner selections such as pan-roasted chicken liver appetizers, classic steak frites and braised rabbit au vin. And then of course there are the desserts, courtesy of pastry chef Ashley Roehrig; go lighter with beignets accompanied by dulce de leche dipping sauce or go for broke and get the Smash Bar, a milk chocolate candy bar filled with hazelnut ganache, salted caramel, peanuts and milk chocolate crunch, finished with gold leaf. 601 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954.567.8020; atlantichotelfl.com.
